SD Premier Classic Tournament

The San Diego Surf Academy 2012 Girls had a spectacular first day at the SD Premier Classic, which took place on August 19th at Surf Cup Sports Park (Del Mar). Here are the match summaries and results:

Match Summary

During the first game against Albion SC, the girls displayed impressive possession and executed excellent passing sequences, effortlessly moving the ball around the field. Ava managed to score the first goal within the first few minutes, followed by another goal shortly thereafter. She then completed a hat trick by the end of the game.

In the second game against Vista Storm, the team demonstrated the same work ethic, albeit with some additional fouls. Ava opened the game with an incredible goal, and there was a handball in the box from Vista. The Surf goalie on the bench came in for the PK and scored. This scenario repeated in the second half, and the opposite Surf goalie subbed in to take the PK and scored as well. Ava scored again, bringing the final score to 4-0. Two shutouts in one day!

Unfortunately, the third game and the final were canceled due to Hurricane Hilary. A decision is pending from the Tournament Director on how to proceed with concluding the tournament. As it stands now, SD Surf Academy has earned the most points (20) of Group A and Group B. Consequently, they may very well be declared the SD Premier Classic G2012 Champions.
